Born in Austin, TX, Lane is an award-winning choreographer, coach, dance artist, and academic scholar. Lane’s passion for dance began at the age of 16 with a Salsa class at his local dance studio. Upon high school graduation in 2011, Lane attended St. Mary’s University – San Antonio where he obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management. During his time at St. Mary’s, Lane developed and spearheaded the incredibly successful, Dancing with the Students, a Ballroom-dance themed registered student organization that evolved into a showcase lead Ballroom dance program for the university.
Upon his graduation from St. Mary’s in 2015, Lane moved to Orem, Utah and attended Utah Valley University, where he obtained a second set of degrees: an Associates of Science in Political Science/History and a Bachelor of Science in University Studies with an emphasis on Ballroom Dance Theory and Choreography. During his time at UVU, Lane danced and competed with the prestigious UVU Ballroom Dance company for 5 years. Lane was also selected as an ambassador of Dance and traveled with a small performance group to China to tour three major cities, Shanghai, Beijing, and Hong Kong.
Once graduating from UVU in 2021, Lane moved to Gilbert, Arizona where he was the Ballroom dance director for the ALA Gilbert – North 7-12 branch of the American Leadership Academy Charter Schools. During his time, Lane was responsible for the curriculum and program development for school. His youth formation teams placed and won multiple titles at the national level.
Lane also attended Arizona State University and graduated with a Master of Fine Arts in Dance. During his time at ASU, Lane has written multiple academic papers and presented at various conferences around the U.S. advocating for Ballroom dance in K-12 schools and higher education universities. He is also the Advisor for Development for the National Dance Education Organization, a prestigious non-profit organization that advocates for dance education all over the country.
Lane is incredibly excited to join Fred Astaire and to continue his dancing journey with this incredible organization. He looks forward to contributing to the continued development of the Ballroom dance community.
