Sergei was born in Irkutsk, Russia. Growing up in Nizhny Novgorod, Sergei began dancing at the age of 12 studying at the prestigious Volga studio. In addition, Sergei earned his Specialist degree from the St Petersburgh Lesgaft National State university of Physical Education, Sport and Health.
Competing in both Ballroom and Latin styles, Sergei was an elite performer in National and International Dancesport competitions and was awarded the highest level “M” classification by the Russian Federation of Dancesport and in 2019 he accepted a position as a professional instructor with the Fred Astaire Studios in the United States.
As a professional dance couple, Sergei and Ekaterina compete throughout the United States in the American style 9 dance program and they are three-time finalists in the United States Dance Championships, the most prestigious Ballroom dance competition in the United States. In 2022 Sergei and Ekaterina were World Champions in Rising Star Smooth style and Vice Champion in Rising Star Rhythm style at the Fred Astaire World Championships held in Las Vegas.
Sergei is also an outstanding instructor and takes great pride in being able to connect with each and every student, watching them grow and develop as dancers and being rewarded through their smiling faces.
In 2023 Ekaterina and Sergei became co-owners of the Fred Astaire Lancaster studio and together they are looking forward to enriching people’s lives with the magic of dance.
