Argentine and Ballroom Tango Under One Roof
Our tango classes in Miami cover both main forms of tango. Our world-class teachers are certified in authentic Argentine tango. They’re also certified in all ballroom styles, including American and International tango.
That means you don’t have to pick a style before you start. You can explore both and find the one that excites you most.
Argentine Tango Classes
Our Argentine tango classes focus on the authentic, traditional style. It’s largely improvised. The leader suggests each move through small shifts in weight and the embrace. The follower listens and responds.
That’s why it often feels like a conversation between two partners.
American and International Tango
The ballroom versions have a more stylized look, with staccato footwork, flexed knees and poised pauses. Compared to other ballroom dances, they also use a tighter hold, built for quick, sharp action.
The history and style of tango are covered on our dedicated tango page.
Tango is only one of the styles we teach. Browse the full range of ballroom and Latin lessons at our Miami Beach studio to see the rest.

What You'll Learn in Your First First Argentine Tango Lessons
Your first lessons start with the basics. At its core, Argentine tango is a walking dance. From there, you’ll learn the fundamentals that give it its character:
These fundamentals are where your lessons begin. The embrace is the foundation, since it’s how partners communicate.
Element | What it is |
The Embrace (Abrazo) | A firm but flexible connection that lets partners lead and follow |
The Walk (Caminata) | A smooth walk with relaxed knees, pushing off the floor instead of lifting the feet high |
The Cross (Cruzada) | A basic figure where the follower’s feet cross, usually on a strong beat |
The Eight (Ocho) | A pivoting step where the follower traces a figure eight on the floor |
The Rock Step | A simple weight change used to pause or change direction |

Tango Classes for Beginners
Our tango classes for beginners are open to everyone. Many couples and solo dancers start with us, and no experience is needed.
Tango Lessons for Couples
Dancing in a close embrace asks partners to work together. In couples lessons, you’ll learn how to build trust and communicate without words. You can find out more about our lessons for couples.
Tango Lessons Without a Partner
You don’t need a partner to start. Private lessons pair you with your instructor as your partner, so you can focus on technique, rhythm and style. Group classes work differently: students switch partners regularly, which gets you used to different leads and follows.
It's Never Too Late to Start
You’re never too old to learn tango. We have students aged 60+ enjoying every step. If that sounds like you, take a look at our classes for over 50s and 60s.

What Our Students Say
Thank you Dan and Kamil (THE BEST!) They have a way of breaking things down so that learning feels natural, encouraging, and even fun. What has surprised me most is how much they have helped me express something inside of myself that I didn’t even realize was there.

Since then, I’ve gone from a beginner to competing at two USDC competitions in Orlando, even earning second place in my Bronze Pro-Am division across all 9 dances. I feel blessed to have found the studio. In addition to the joy of dancing, I’ve lost 45 lbs along the way!

Attending lessons at their studio is the highlight of my week. Thank you for all the laughter, teaching me the art of ballroom dance, and inviting my family to be a part of yours. I adore you both!!!

I have tried several teachers in the past to help me with salsa. I never had success.
Here at Fred Astaire studio Donata was a new teacher and she was patient and enabled me to be a confident dancer within 2 months. The owners and staff are very friendly and treat you like family.
I highly recommend.

I highly recommend!! Allie, Dima and Dan are wonderful dancers and teachers.
Dancing is happiness!
