Ilya started ballroom dancing in 1992 in Russia. He has continued his dance career up to this day dancing and coaching in a formation team named “Impulse”. He has participated and competed in all different types of events and competitions, local, regional, national and international. Ilya studied in the Academy of Arts and Culture of Chelyabinsk, Russia and his major was choreography. He has been with Fred Astaire since 2014 and has been awarded the Top Male Teacher in New Jersey for 2017 and 2018. He is United States Rising Star Rhythm Champion, United States Rising Star Smooth Bronze medalist and Nine dance United States vice champion.
