Alex and Ashley Ivashchenko have been dancing together for five years. Alex began dancing Ballroom and Latin at the young age of seven in his home country of Ukraine. Ashley started dancing at a young age as well, focusing on tap and jazz. Alex and Ashley have become a dynamic duo competing professionally in the American Rhythm style. Together they have traveled all over the region competing at various competitions. In their free time they can be found enjoying new restaurants and spots around town or watching movies together.

 

Yuri and Elena Astashenia  -Yurii competed in Ballroom and Latin competitions throughout his home country of Russia and Internationally, placing as finalist and winner. He worked as a ballroom dance teacher for children and youth and worked as a coach and choreographer for children and junior dance shows and competitions. Additionally, he was a sport dance DJ and an audio and video editor. Elena grew up ballroom dancing in Russia and has been dancing for twenty-nine years. A professional Latin dancer and Master of Sport of Russia, she was International Latin Champion in 2004, 2005, and 2006, and World Showdance Champion in 2008, of which many of these accomplishments you can see on her YouTube channel “Elena Gabdrakhmanova.” Outside of their devotion to dance, Yuri and Elena both enjoy traveling and spending time with friends and family, especially their daughter. Yuri enjoys driving and Elena likes to meet new friends with common interests, enjoys sport, teaching, improving her skills, and jogging.

 

Sarah Goethe-Jones became a part of the FADS team in 2019. She has been dancing since the age of seven, becoming a professional ballet dancer with Albany Berkshire Ballet at age seventeen. She attended Boston Ballet’s Summer Dance Program at age eighteen. She taught dance for Albany Berkshire Ballet in Albany and Cantarella School of Dance in Massachusetts, as well as conducting dance workshops for local schools. She holds a fashion degree from Parsons The New School of Design in New York. In addition to her dance career, she comes from a varied professional background including costume design for theatre and film, fashion history, millinery, and museum work. When she is not busy dancing, she loves to read, knit, drink tea, travel to the UK, vintage shop, and spend time with her husband and two cats.

 

Boris and Sasha Spitchka are owners of the Fred Astaire Dance Studios-Albany, NY.

Sasha began dance at seven, first studying ballet and folk dancing. Boris fell in love with ballroom dancing at sixteen. They were competing as amateurs in the Standard and Latin divisions. and  later started to teach Ballroom and Latin dancing, as well as being a dance coaches, performers, and  competitions organizers.  Both originally from Ukraine, they began their career in the USA with Fred Astaire Dance Studios in Mount Kisco NY.  During that time, they also were competed as professionals in American Smooth.  In 1998 they opened the FADS Albany location.

They have achieved the highest certification level of a Dual Fellowship in International Standard and Latin from the United States Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (USISTD), and a Triple Fellowship in American Smooth, American Rhythm, and Theatre Arts from Fred Astaire Dance Studios®.

In 2019 they became Members of the Fred Astaire Dance Studios International Dance Council.
