About Us

Welcome to Fred Astaire Dance Studios – Atlanta Midtown! Teaching Atlanta to dance since 1985, we pride ourselves in offering two convenient Atlanta area locations (Midtown and Duluth) with a personal atmosphere. We believe you will find learning to dance quick, easy, and most of all, FUN! Our ballroom dance instructors are the friendliest, most professional in town and offer some of the finest, most effective dance teaching methods available.

Our floating dance floors will allow you to dance the night away with grace, style, and poise without the discomfort of tired feet from an unforgiving floor. The quality of your experience each and every time you visit our studio is a top priority for us.

We offer multiple ways for you to enjoy both learning to dance as well as your time spent dancing. Our services include private dance instruction with a single professional instructor, group lessons to practice your skills with people in a small group atmosphere, practice parties to dance with a variety of friendly dancers like yourself, Competition Club for those interested in competing, and the fabulous Patron Club that allows you to benefit from additional lessons, special pricing, and intensive dance training.

Congratulations on beginning a journey that will provide a lifetime of enjoyment. We look forward to sharing our love of dance with you as you begin this exciting new hobby! On behalf of all of us here at Fred Astaire Dance Studios of Atlanta Midtown, we’d like to welcome you!

Fred Astaire Dance Studios of Atlanta’s Dance Studios

Serving Atlanta with two convenient locations, our studios in Atlanta (Midtown) and Duluth provide a warm and friendly environment in which we can offer personalized attention to each and every ballroom dance student. Our Atlanta Midtown studio,  located in the historic King Plow Arts Center on the west side of Midtown serves Buckhead, Midtown, and Downtown ballroom dance patrons and students.

We offer a variety of studio events each month at both locations, such as our bi-monthly open house, weekly practice parties, and monthly soirées. We also offer weekly group lessons and private lessons at each location.

Fred Astaire Dance Studios of Atlanta’s Trophy System

Because we tailor our private and group lessons to all dancers—from beginners to professionals—we use a medal system to identify the skills of each student. The trophy levels are adapted to each dance, so your progress is carefully charted with each new ballroom dance type you learn and master. Our progress scale rates dancers on figure, timing, lead/follow, and technique. There’s no pressure with the medal system, though. We encourage dancers to learn at their own pace and have as much fun as possible. The trophy system exists to help arrange classes of similar abilities and to challenge those who are interested in potentially competing.
