Remember that expression “Membership has its privileges?” Our students will be discovering that on Saturday, April 25, when we take a studio trip – as a VIP event – to the fabulous MIT Open 2015 Ballroom Dance Competition at Rockwell Cage on the MIT campus in Cambridge. The MIT Open is one of the largest collegiate amateur ballroom dance competitions in the US, offering 19 dances from Beginner to Championship levels.
Our students get VIP front-row seating, and a special opportunity to meet featured performers Mirko Gozzoli and Edita Danitua. Only Fred Astaire Dance Studio of Belmont students may take part in this VIP trip.
Mirko and Edita have dazzled the dance world for years, and are noted for the fusion of Mirko’s unparalleled precision and musicality with Edita’s dynamic athleticism. They have been dancing together for more than five years, and in that time they were at the very top of the world, most recently winning the 2014 WDSF Professional Championships. Both dancers have earned remarkable achievements in their careers thus far, though they announced their retirement from competition this past November.
