Monica Lickona

Monica Lickona began her adventure with ballroom dance in her third undergrad year at DeSales University in Center Valley, Pennsylvania, when she took an intro ballroom course through the university dance department. Proudly hailing from McGraw, NY, she has been dancing for nearly 17 years in different styles, primarily focusing on ballet. She received professional ballet and pointe training in middle school at the Ithaca Ballet, where she performed in ballet performances such as “The Nutcracker.” She spent her remaining high school years dancing with the Cortland Performing Arts Institute, where her ballet training was supplemented with jazz and modern. In her undergrad career, she danced under the likes of choreographer and dance filmmaker Timothy Cowart, Joffrey principal Trinette Singleton, and modern dancer and choreographer Tara Madsen Robbins. After graduating with her degree in Television and Film and a minor in Theatre studies in May 2016, she worked intensely in narrative filmmaking and professional theatre throughout the New England area. Still addicted to ballroom, she was dancing whenever and however she could. This led her to being a student at her nearest Fred Astaire dance studio in Syracuse, NY in August 2016, which led her on a journey to become an instructor with the Fred Astaire Buffalo team! Monica is very grateful to the Syracuse and Buffalo team for helping her achieve her dream as an instructor with Fred Astaire!
