Bryanna

Dance Instructor

Bryanna is from Nashville, Tennessee and is so excited to be a part of the Fred Astaire family! Her favorite competition style is Theater Arts. She says the best thing about teaching is watching her students grow in their ideas of themselves as they face their fears and reach new heights in their dancing.

When asked who she admires most, Bryanna says she admires Oprah. She believes Oprah is a hard-working, independent woman with a go-getter attitude, and a will to make the world a kinder, more loving place.

One thing most people don’t know about Bryanna is that she was classically trained for 13 years to play the upright bass. This is what sparked her passion for dance.

Heather

Dance Instructor
Heather comes to Fred Astaire Mokena from a very active and healthy lifestyle. She grew up cheer leading and was a fierce gymnast. Prior to joining Fred Astaire Dance Studios, she was a dancer/cheerleader for multiple semi-professional and professional sports teams. Looking to expand her dancing horizons, Heather decided to become a Professional Ballroom Dance Instructor with Fred Astaire Illinois.

Heather specializes in training competitive students as well as social dancers. If you do not see her on the dance floor, she is either on the StairMaster or lifting weights.

Josh

Dance Instructor

Originally from Puerto Rico, Josh arrived at Fred Astaire Dance Studio of Mokena after teaching ballroom for several years at an independent studio in Tennessee. His competition styles are American Rhythm and Theater Arts. When asked what he loves most about teaching he says, “Watching my students grow and develop into beautiful dancers and learn how to express the beautiful light they had inside them the whole time.”

When asked who he admires most he says, “My mom for being a strong, independent woman, raising three children on her own, and overcoming difficult obstacles.”

One thing that most people don’t know about Josh is that he can’t eat spicy food even though he’s Hispanic.

Sarah

Dance Instructor

Sarah was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois and has been dancing since she was little. She prefers American Style Rhythm and Smooth and her favorite dance is the Waltz.

When asked what she loves most about teaching, Sarah says, “making a difference in people’s lives, watching them grow into what they want to be. I love seeing people happy and smiling when they accomplish their dreams.”

Sarah says the person she most admires is her father. She says, “he has always stood behind me and wants the best for me. He has a heart of gold!”

When she’s not dancing or working, Sarah enjoys the outdoors and getting dirty. She and her family go skiing, four-wheeling, camping, and hiking.

Vance

Supervisor
Vance is originally from Chicago, Illinois. His competition styles are American Smooth and International Standard.
When asked what he loves most about teaching he says, “The stories my students tell me about how much dancing has improved their lives.”
When asked who he admires most, he says, “Ayn Rand: for escaping Totalitarianism and living the American Dream.”
One thing most people do not know about Vance is that he considers himself a big computer nerd. He enjoys Alternative music and his favorite dance is the Waltz.

Jessica

Front Desk Executive
Jessica grew up in Allentown, New Jersey. Of all the competition styles, she enjoys watching American Rhythm. Her favorite dances are the Rumba and the Waltz.

When asked what she loves most about being a part of the administrative staff, Jessica says, “Watching new dancers grow and seeing couples bond through dance. It [dance] really does have the power to save and strengthen relationships.”

 

Dorothy

Front Desk Executive
Dorothy Davy is from Chicago, Illinois. When asked who she admires the most, she says, “I admire the acumen of the three Davys.”
What most people do not know about her is that she is the mother of Fred Astaire Illinois’ Dance Director, Jack Davy.

 

 

Kim

Training Director/Studio Owner
Kim is a Dyer, Indiana native. When asked what she loves most about teaching she says, “Introducing new clients to the exciting world of dancing!”
One thing most people do not know about Kim is that she has a pet turtle named “Marguerita.” Kim likes Country Music the most and her favorite dances are the West Coast Swing and the Tango.

Bill

Training Director/Studio Owner
Bill hails from Chicago, Illinois. His competition styles were Pro/Am and Professional American Smooth, Rhythm and Theatre Arts. When asked what he loves most about teaching he says, “Watching the transformation from non-dancer to dancer.”

He says he admires his wife, Kim, the most because “through all the ups and downs of entrepreneurship, she has stood by me with love, bravery and confidence, which has given me confidence to move forward.”
One thing most people do not know about Bill, is he likes playing paintball. Bill enjoys smooth Jazz music and his favorite dance is the Foxtrot.
