What I love most about teaching: That look on the student’s face when that one move, they have trouble with just clicks. The joy that radiates from them when they see that, in fact, they can dance.
Who I admire most and why: My Wife! She is my whole world! She helped me face my fears of significant changes, such as changing careers and moving to another state. She gives me hope and courage to take on anything.
One thing most people do not know about me: I was a winemaker, wine consultant, and wine educator. I left a 10-year career in wine to begin one in dance.
(It’s never too late to start something new)
Biography: After 10 years of wine, I met the owner of an independent dance studio in Texas. After she convinced me to come in for a dance lesson, I was immediately bitten by the dance bug. I couldn’t imagine not dancing after that, and began going every week. After she bribed me with a bottle of wine to attend my first competition, I realized dance was my future! She then took a leap of faith in me and hired me as an instructor, for which I will always be thankful. Then I moved to Colorado, where I was lucky enough to continue my passion with Fred Astaire!
