One Thing Most People Don’t Know About Me: I danced a swing with Bill Nye the Science Guy!

BIO

Erin’s journey into the world of dance began at the age of 11, when she accompanied her mom to her ballroom classes and instantly fell in love with the movement and music. Soon after, she joined the Davis Swing Kids, a competitive swing-formation team consistently earning top marks. As her skills grew, Erin advanced to the adult competitive team and began coaching the next generation of Davis Swing Kids, all while teaching ballroom, Latin, and swing styles.

While studying Psychology in college, Erin developed a love for Lindy Hop. She danced weekly at the iconic Midtown Stomp in Sacramento, where she eventually became an instructor. A torn tendon in her ankle threatened to sideline her dancing for good, but after years of healing and persistence, Erin returned to the floor, diving headfirst into West Coast Swing.

Living in the San Francisco Bay Area, she trained with champion dancers and began competing in the WCS circuit. Though the Bay offered beauty and balance, Erin craved something new, and in the winter of 2023, she followed the call of the mountains to Colorado. Now a proud Subaru owner, green chili enthusiast, and dog mom, she settled into her new life with a continued passion for dance.

Although she loved West Coast Swing, Erin began to feel the familiar pull of her first love: ballroom dancing. She reached out to Paul at Fred Astaire Dance Studios, and though Erin approached with modesty, Paul quickly recognized her talent and natural aptitude. When a role opened at the studio, Erin received an incredible call from Paul inviting her to return to her dream job of teaching dance, bringing her full circle and back to the ballroom where it all began.
