Juan began competing in both Latin American & Modern Standard discipline at the age of 14 and became a member of Dancesport Team Cebu City. Competed in the DSCPI 8th National Dancesport Championship (now known as PDSFI, a WDSF member) he won Silver in Youth A-Latin Category in 2004. In 2017 Juan acquired his license as a Professional under the International Dance Teachers Association and his license to Adjudicate under PDSFI in 2019. He gained a good reputation for partnering and helping his students garner champion awards multiple times in Teacher-Student Latin Category from 2008 to 2019 nationally and internationally, but the most prominent of all was finishing in 5th place at the prestigious Blackpool Dance Festival 2018 in Pro-Am Latin Category.
Juan holds the belief that dancing is not only meant for dancers to express themselves but for them to inspire other people to dance too and change their lives forever.
