Jessica and Grant Emerson were wed on February 18, 2017 on the beaches at Secrets Aura in Cozumel, Mexico. The Emersons came to Fred Astaire Memphis to learn their first dance for their wedding, a Swing – Cha Cha fusion, to “Geronimo” by Sheppard taught by Ms. Stephanie Korpitz.
“We decided to have a choreographed dance because we wanted to have a fun upbeat song, instead of the typical slow dance. Stephanie at Fred Astaire dance studios gave us a challenge and we loved the outcome! We danced to ‘Geronimo’ by Sheppard and incorporated some swing, cha cha, and lifts into it. It was a blast and we couldn’t have done it without her,” said Jessica.
Grant and Jessica wed on a pier that overlooked the ocean. It was at 5:00 and the sun was beautiful in the sky. The bridesmaids wore coral dresses and the groomsman had teal ties; this color scheme was then used for the decorations. Teal bows were tied around the chairs, teal streamers were placed on the beams that held up the pier, coral flower petals dripped down the walkway, Jessica’s bouquet was coral and teal roses and Grant’s boutonniere was a coral rose.
Jessica went on to say, “I walked down the isle to Beauty and the Beast’s ‘Tale as Old as Time’ instrumental version. It was a short symbolic wedding and then we had pictures on the beach as the sun was setting. The reception was held on the beach as well and started off with a wonderful three-course meal, and ended with a cake cutting. We had a joint father-daughter, mother-son dance to ‘What a Wonderful World’ by Louis Armstrong. This then led into our first dance, which was hand-crafted by Stephanie at Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Germantown, TN. Our dance set the mood for the rest of the night, and we all danced the night away under the stars. I couldn’t have asked for a better day and we will remember it forever.”
