Fred Astaire Dance Studio Reviews
**UPDATE** I am now reaching a year and half at this studio, having taken lessons, attended a few competitions and local showcases! I am currently preparing for a National Competition in ORLANDO! I am so excited to have such an amazing team of coaches, friends and the support of all! Though it is a lot of hard work, it is an amazing opportunity to be able to participate in Dancesport (dare at say at my age) for the first time, as it has done wonders for my physical and mental health. A special thank you to my main coach, Sergey Ivanov for all your guidance and encouragement and also to Andrew Ta, always bright and kind , to the ladies Evgeniya Z, and Yelisa C for your amazing choreography for the formations we have done (another 1st place, yay!) and to all who continue to make this studio what it is!
Sergey takes time to answer any questions and concerns I have. Sergey takes time to listen to my input about what I want to learn and what isn't working for me and adjusts accordingly.
The studio in general is very welcoming and professional. Everyone is very invested in making sure all clients needs are met. The other classes they offer to help support your learning are fabulous......group classes, practice parties, as well as competitions is great! They also have Dance Aerobics classes that are fun!

Most definitely recommend this studio!
Fred Astaire Dance Studio is a true gem for dance enthusiasts and beginners alike! The instructors radiate passion and expertise, ensuring each lesson is a blend of fun and precise technique. The warm, inclusive environment makes every individual feel like a cherished part of their dance family. From the electric atmosphere to the delightful social events, every moment at Fred Astaire is a step into a world where elegance and enjoyment dance hand in hand. A heartfelt thank you to the team for making each dance journey uniquely spectacular!
Highly recommended if you like to dance and want to get better.
Over the years, I have had several dance partners, but Dustin Jones, owner of the studio, has been my rock. He has such a positive attitude all the time, is encouraging and an overall fantastic teacher, mentor and friend. If you have ever wanted to step outside your comfort zone, give ballroom dance a try. I promise, you will wonder what took you so long.
we are spoiled here in youngstown.
awesome teachers, great students, and imo best ballroom in ohio.
My Dance Journey
I started dancing to reclaim the confidence I once had – and to build it back up tenfold. It’s a process, and while I’m still finding my footing, each lesson helps me trust my abilities a little more, bringing me closer to the person I know I’m meant to be – someone who moves through life with confidence. To me, dancers have always embodied that quality more than anyone else.
What I didn’t expect was the heartwarming community that would come with it. The studio feels like a refuge – a place where the noise of the outside world quiets down. Even when I face personal challenges, I always return because of my goals, my instructors, the staff, and the students at Fred Astaire Youngstown. Without them, this journey wouldn’t be nearly as meaningful or feel like such a safe space to grow.
I’ve come to enjoy these social settings far more. Even when I’m simply sitting in my own silence, taking in the scene, I’m able to be present and reflect. While there are still moments when I hold myself back, the studio gives me the room to work through those feelings of my own pace. Little by little, I’m learning to let myself go.
