Shannon Taylor (Owner & Instructor)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Shannon has been with Fred Astaire Dance Studios for over 7 years. She has done choreography locally, and competed/placed in rhythm and smooth categories regionally and nationally. She, along with her husband Ethan Konig, often performs and teaches throughout the Greater Cleveland area. She has been a featured dancer on Channel 8, RNC Cleveland events, PRIDE Cleveland, NBA halftime performances, local Chagrin Falls shows, and more. She helped coach the dance team, ‘Dance Does it!’ who earned a Bronze medal at the 2017 World Winter Games: Special Olympics. Shannon started in theater and vocals at 5-years-old, has been training in belly dancing since she was 12, and began studying ballroom at 16. She has been a certified Zumba instructor for 5 years, and is known to have some seriously kick-butt classes! She has helped to, and put together, local and national competitions (Transplant Games 2016), large events, and showcases. “I can’t imagine my life without dance in it, my world is a brighter color! Everything is better when dance is involved.”

Ethan Konig (Manager/Dance Director/Pound Fit Pro)

Ethan has been teaching and training in ballroom dancing for more than 9 years. He specializes in Theater Arts (lifts, dips and drops) and his favorite dance styles are smooth and International Standard. Ethan has become certified in Pound Fitness, where you combine pilates and drumming for an amazing workout! He has won awards in both rhythm and smooth dancing competitions throughout Ohio, and nationally. He performs and teaches throughout the Greater Cleveland area with his wife, Shannon Taylor for news channels, RNC events, and more. “Dancing saves my sanity,” Ethan says. “It can make any situation better, and I can’t wait to pass that along to my students each day.” Ethan’s love of dancing shines through every moment of the day; and he can help you find the passion and joy in your life, too.

Shari Smith (Dance Instructor)

Shari’s love of Dance began at the age of 7 when began taking Tap, Jazz and Ballet with the Neylon Dance Studio. At age 9, she began to heavily focus on ballet. She then studied at The Fine Arts Association in Willoughby under the direction of Ray and Jan Smith. She attended the University of Akron with a Major in Performing Arts and Ballet from 1977-1981.

Unfortunately, the shelf life of a Ballerina is short- lived and with life changes, she discovered the wonderful world of Ballroom! Taught, trained and certified through Fred Astaire Dance Studios since 1992. Shari has competed in numerous competitions throughout the country both with her students and as a professional. Shari would love to share her passion for dance with you!

Kimberly Scola: Argentine Tango Guest Teacher

Kimberly Scola has been dancing and DJing in her hometown of Cleveland for several years. She received her instructor training in none other than Cleveland Tango School. She has traveled as nearby as Pittsburgh and as far away as Buenos Aires to dance Argentine Tango and DJ. She has studied with many international instructors from all over the US and Argentina. Some names including, but not limited to, Richard Council, Oscar Casa, Homer & Christina, & Anna Leon– to name a few.  She regularly takes classes as a leader, a follower, instructor, and continually studies her craft.Kim teaches in a familiar style, picking up her ways from her schooling at Cleveland Tango by focusing first on technique and connection. Kim believes that this way, for students and teachers alike, they can figure out easily what’s not working, and how to fix it.

“Being a professional Spanish teacher, I am very experienced in explaining concepts and staying at the pace of my students. I like to laugh, and my classes are usually very laid back and fun, but also very efficiently cover material that will help bring beginners onto the dance floor quickly.”

Annie Foliart (Receptionist)

Annie is a student at The Ohio State University on the pre-veterinary track. She is planning on going into equine medicine. At OSU she is a part of a few clubs such as PVMA and she does photography for the Men’s Club Lacrosse team. She found a love for ballroom dance in high school when she learned how to salsa dance. She now fuels that passion by being on OSU’s DanceSport team. She is a latin/rhythm dancer and her two favorite  dances are East Coast Swing and Cha-Cha. Annie is eager to meet Fred Astaire’s students, seasoned and brand new, and share her passion for dance with everyone.
