Join our October DanceFlix Series and take your turns and spins to the next level. This 4-week workshop focuses on the balance, control, technique, and confidence needed to turn with greater ease—and recover smoothly when things don’t go exactly as planned.

Whether you’re a leader or follower, man or woman, these skills are designed to make your dancing stronger, cleaner, and more confident across a variety of dances.

Workshop Focus

Turns are more than just spinning around.

Great turns come from balance, proper weight placement, controlled momentum, clean footwork, and knowing how to use your body efficiently. In this 4-week series, we’ll break down the mechanics of rotation and build the skills you need to turn with control and confidence.

From foundational technique to partnered turns, multiple rotations, and real-world application, you’ll learn how to make your turns cleaner, more consistent, and easier to execute.

What You'll Discover

Build the Foundation: Develop proper posture, balance, weight placement, foot position, spotting, and clean starts and finishes.
Create & Control Rotation: Learn how to generate rotation, manage speed and force, control momentum, and prepare for multiple turns.
Partnered Turns: Lead & Follow: Improve connection, hand placement, arm pathways, and the ability to lead or follow rotation while maintaining your own balance.
Spins, Multiples & Application: Work on multiple rotations, finishing with control, adding styling, recovering when something goes wrong, and applying your turning skills across different dances.

I started attending Fred Astaire on August 21, 2026, during one of their Open House Dance Parties, and I absolutely love the atmosphere, the friends I went with and made, and most importantly, my dance instructor Ferg. He’s a professional dancer from Europe, and I can honestly say he’s incredible. I highly recommend this studio—you won’t be disappointed. I had been wanting to come here since after Covid, and I finally made it happen. Don’t wait like I did. I had given up dancing 35 years ago, gained a lot of weight, and was stiff and in pain. Just after three lessons with Ferg, I’ve noticed a real difference, and I couldn’t be more proud. Ferg promised he would help change me, and it’s clearly showing! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Five Stars… and Then Some!

I had the pleasure of taking demo dance classes on Monday and Tuesday at Fred Astaire Dance Studios in Cypress, and I can honestly say… they made me feel good, just like the song says! 💃❤️

From the moment I walked through the door, I felt welcomed. The facilities are absolutely top-notch, and the entire staff and instructors are so warm, friendly, and professional.

And then there was Ferg, my fabulous instructor! Somehow, I think fate knew exactly what it was doing when it led me to him. I wouldn’t have changed him for anyone else.

What I loved most was his teaching method. Ferg literally led me onto the dance floor by the hand, explained the steps and movements, and taught me what to expect from him as the leader so I could learn how to be a good follower. He paid attention to how I naturally responded to the twists, turns, steps, and counting. He knew when to offer a respectful observation, when to make a suggestion, and—my favorite part—when to tell me I was doing a great job.

And he definitely put me to the test! 😂 He squeezed my dancing inner self to the extreme. We danced, I messed up, I blamed HIM (because… negativity jar! 😂—our little inside joke), and we laughed about it.

But beyond the dancing, what really stayed with me was how good they made me feel. I felt encouraged, challenged, welcomed, and genuinely happy.

Sometimes you walk through a door and simply know you were meant to be there. That’s how I felt at Fred Astaire Cypress.

My husband and I tried Fred Astaire's dance studio out just for fun. We are total beginners. Ferg was our instructor. He was wonderdul. He totally made us feel relaxed and comfortable.
