Ciprian Popa – Studio Manager, Dance Teacher

Has started ballroom dancing at the age of 11 in his home city Oradea, Romania. He has competed in International Style Ballroom, Latin and achieved finalist placements at National Competitions. Ciprian received a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science and has a passion creating web apps brochures, posters etc. He also studied singing and received a School of Art diploma. This avenue gave him the chance to perform on stage in Festivals and TV shows. At the age of 21 he started to perform in Las Vegas production shows on cruise ships. He worked for a British, German and Carnival Cruises Lines which took him to the Caribbean and around the world cruises. Ciprian moved to New York in 2006 and started to work as dance instructor for Fred Astaire of Mamaroneck, NY where he started training and competing in American style Pro, and Pro/Am divisions, achieving finalist results in both fields. He’s been trained predominantly with Michelle Officer and other top coaches – Jose and Joanna De Camps etc. As result, his teaching method is well structured but also very much fun. He started working at Fred Astaire NY Midtown in 2022 and promoted to studio manager in 2023. Ciprian also has a passion for gyrotonic and yoga.
