Brian Ocana is a highly accomplished ballroom dance instructor and champion competitor with a career spanning over two decades. He began his journey in ballroom dancing at the age of 12, mastering both Latin and Standard disciplines simultaneously. By 17, Brian earned the prestigious title of Philippines National 10-Dance Champion under the guidance of world-renowned coaches, including Andrei Skufca, Katarina Venturini, and Peta Robi.
Focusing on the Standard discipline, Brian, alongside his sister Karla, became a celebrated figure in the Philippines’ dance scene. They achieved numerous accolades, including National Champion titles at 19, and went on to secure Asian and Open to the World Ballroom Championship titles. Their international success was further shaped by mentorship from ballroom legends like Mathew Rooke, Glen Tierney, and Tony & Amanda Dokman.
With a passion for teaching, Brian has over 20 years of experience coaching dancers of all levels, from beginners to champions. He has trained numerous competitive dancers in the Philippines and achieved first place in Pro-Am events at renowned competitions such as Blackpool and the Dutch Open. His dedication to his students’ growth and success has earned him a reputation as a top-tier dance coach.
Currently, Brian teaches at Fred Astaire Dance Studios in Palm Beach Gardens, where he specializes in American Smooth, American Rhythm, and popular club dances. Together with his wife and dance partner, Francesca, he actively competes in American Smooth events. Brian’s teaching philosophy centers on building confidence, refining technique, and inspiring a lifelong love for dance in his students. Whether training for social dancing or competitive excellence, Brian is committed to helping each student reach their full potential.
