Your Fred Astaire dance instructors are the cream of the crop. They represent some of the best talent in the country. We believe in exposing our students and our instructors to new ideas and perspectives whenever possible. For this reason Fred Astaire proudly hosts some of the most talented, renowned and award winning dancers, coaches and choreographers from all over the world. Outside coaching from one of our guest experts will offer you new insight and ideas, and can take your dancing to the next level.

Many of our coaches are reigning world dance champions and several have been featured on hit television show such as ‘Dancing with the Stars.’ All are nationally recognized in the dance industry. If you’re serious about improving your dancing, sessions with Fred Astaire guest coaches are opportunities you must take advantage of.

Monday, April 1st & Wednesday, April 3rd – Ginette Cournoyer

Ginette Cournoyer is a highly accomplished competitor in the International Latin division, and has also been an adjudicator at the most prestigious competition in the world, Blackpool Dance Festival. Ginette resides in Montreal, Canada, and has the most delightful French Canadian accent. She is highly skilled inall forms of ballroom dance.

Monday, April 8th & Tuesday, April 9th – Glenn Weiss

Glenn Weiss is one of the most sought after teachers in the world. He not only had a illustrious competitive career but has also coached and still coaches many of the top dancers today. He has taught Victor Fung (one of the highest placing US males in the world) since the age of 8.

He was one of the most phenomenal youth athletes to come out of Denmark. He won his first Danish Championship at the age of 8 – within 2 years of starting to dance. He was crowned European International Standard Champion at age 16, Nordic Champion every 2nd year since age 8, and World Standard Champion in 1984 and 1985. Former World Amateur Modern Champion, former World Pro Modern Finalist, Two-time World Champion, Blackpool Dance Festival Champion, International Champion, European Champion, and UK Open Champion. He currently resides in Southern California and teaches at local studios as well as other US and International locations.

Glenn was Choreograph on the Show “So You Think You Can Dance” Fox TV Ballroom Dancing. Also Glenn’s member of the USA Dance, he is judging highlights include: International Championships in London, German Masters, Japan Open, USDSC in Florida, Ohio Star Ball Championships, and other North American, European, and Asian competitions throughout the year. Wednesday, April 10th – Eduard Apolonov

Eddie specializes in all areas of International Latin, Standard, American Smooth, American Rhythm, as well as choreography for Showcases, Solos and Novelties. Eddie is a Choreography Specialist on Open Routines and coaches top competitive couples in the country.

Wednesday, April 17th – Ilya Velednitsky

Ilya moved from Ukraine in 1989 and has been teaching professionally with Fred Astaire Dance Studios for 11 years total, 4 years at the Milwaukee location and 7 at the Brookfield location. He is currently the Studio Director of the newest Arizona Studio, Fred Astaire Dance Studio of Ahwatukee, and competes professionally both regionally and nationally. He and his partner, Ms. Mariya Ilchenko, are multiple-time Fred Astaire Rhythm Champions, Show Dance Champions, and Ohio Star Ball Professional Rhythm Finalists. He is now making his way into the world of coaching and adjudicating.
