Jonathan Proescher

The very first time I had heard anything about dance was when I was 7 years old. I had tagged along with my grandparents to a senior citizens class at a local center in Maryland. We didn’t watch Dancing with the Stars, So You Think You Can Dance, or any other TV show about dancing so our knowledge of dance was extremely limited. But…

…I loved it. After coming home, I continued to dance the Foxtrot steps that were taught that day and even tried to teach my family! My love for dance was born.

After that class, we decided to go to Sunday Tea Dances and socials held at a local ballroom. Everybody there was so kind and compassionate that we knew this was a perfect fit. In fact, someone there saw my love for dance and referred me to a ballroom where I would be able to take lessons and grow my love and knowledge of dancing.

Fast forward five years to 2017 and still in Maryland, we decided to start traveling up to New Jersey every week to a studio that had students my age and level. This helped immensely and I never regret the drive between Maryland and New Jersey for that training to this day. This helped me to become a national finalist in many different competitive events of which I am extremely honored.

My journey with Fred Astaire Dance Studios started a little later, however. In between my travels to New Jersey and Maryland, I found a local FADS in Frederick, MD, to start my teaching journey. From the beginning, I wanted to teach dance and share the joy that I have for it with others no matter what level they are at. Looking at the Fred Astaire system, I knew that it would be the perfect fit for me.

After teaching there for 2 years and still commuting between New Jersey and Maryland for my training, I knew that the constant travel would eventually catch up. I knew that finding a Fred Astaire Dance Studio in New Jersey would be the perfect opportunity. I believe that dancers of all levels and ages should be able to feel confident in what they are learning and dancing. The Fred Astaire Trophy System is one of the best systems for this as it helps reinforce one’s learning without piling on new steps on top of new.

This opportunity found itself in FADS Lambertville. Sharing many of the same beliefs as the owners, I immediately felt that this was the perfect studio for me. With the town being a very quaint, small town with lots of charm, I decided to continue my teaching with Fred Astaire here while also being closer to my own training in New Jersey. Feel free to call, text, or email us today to find your love for dance!
