Meet Xin Yi Toh – Instructor at FADS Duluth
Originally from Malaysia, Xin Yi has been passionate about dance since the age of three, beginning her journey with ballet. She trained extensively, earning her Royal Academy of Dance Advanced 1 Ballet Certificate in 2021, and later shared her love of movement by teaching at the Jean Gan Academy of Ballet and Music in Malaysia.
Xin Yi continued her dance education in the United States, graduating from Messiah University in December 2023 with a B.A. in Dance and a minor in Psychology. While studying, she trained in a variety of styles including modern, jazz, tap, and ballet, which broadened her versatility as a performer and teacher.
Her introduction to ballroom and Latin dance came in 2024, where she quickly discovered her passion for the art form. After graduating, she continued expanding her dance experience and soon officially joined Fred Astaire Dance Studios Duluth as an instructor.
As an instructor, Xin Yi’s favorite part of teaching is creating a positive and supportive environment where students can build confidence, grow at their own pace, and experience the joy of dance. Her personal favorite dance is the Cha Cha, which she loves for its energy, playfulness, and expressive personality.
Outside of the studio, Xin Yi enjoys going to the gym, listening to music across a wide range of genres, and exploring her love for Asian food.
