Few eras in American history seemed like such good fun as the Roaring ‘20s. Speakeasies, parties, jazz, skimpy dresses, dancing – what a blast!
We’ll recreate that fabulous bygone day at our Great Gatsby Party on Thursday, April 13, from 7:30—9:30 p.m. at the studio. Are you ready for this rewind in time and a visit to the Roaring ‘20s?
Dress in your best 1920s or Great Gatsby themed attire — flapper dress, suits or slacks! Beverages and hors d’ oeuvres will be served. Gatsby, of course, was the central figure of the novel, published in 1925, by F. Scott Fitzgerald. His posh parties were (ahem) all the rage of that day.
And you know our party would never be complete without the social dancing, professional performances and exciting added extras. Can you guess what the most popular dances were during this exciting time in America? The most popular dances during the decade were the fox-trot, waltz, and American tango. From the early 1920s, a variety of eccentric novelty dances were also developed including the Charleston, and Lindy Hop.
You can learn every one of them (and practice them at our parties) at your Fred Astaire Dance Studio of Milwaukee.
Tickets for the Great Gatsby Party are $35 for an individual or a couple (couples count as one).
Contact the studio for more information. We look forward to seeing in your 1920s finery.
