The Fred Astaire Dance Studios’ Curriculum
Originally shaped by Fred Astaire’s elegant and unmistakable style of dance, the Fred Astaire Dance Studios ballroom dance curriculum includes a wide variety of American, Latin-American, International Style, Exhibition/Theater Arts dances, and more. World-renowned dance champions and registered members of the Fred Astaire International Dance Council regularly study and update our curriculum to ensure our students receive excellent, current, and effective programs. Our proven teaching method uses a three-part system of regularly scheduled private lessons, group classes, and practice parties.
Private Lessons
Private lessons with one or more Oro Valley dance instructors give you focused, personalized attention so you can look and feel more confident on the ballroom dance floor while learning how to lead or follow any partner. We teach at your pace, helping you develop, refine, and polish your dancing every step of the way.
Group Classes
Group classes support your private dance lessons because this is where patterns, technique, rhythm, and style are reinforced. Group classes also allow you to meet other students with similar ballroom dancing goals, improve balance, and better understand the mechanics of dance in a friendly learning environment.
Practice Parties
Regularly scheduled practice parties complete the material taught in your private lessons and group classes. At Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Oro Valley’s practice parties, we lower the lights, turn up the music, and enjoy dancing with different people in a relaxed social setting. Practice parties help you “put it all together,” improve music recognition, and teach you how to move comfortably without running into others on the dance floor. Practice parties are a great, and FUN, way to use what you’re learning.
The Fred Astaire Trophy System
The Fred Astaire Dance Studios Trophy System gives you a simple way to follow your progress while enjoying ballroom dance lessons! Our Beginner and Social Foundation Programs help newer students learn step patterns and techniques so they can move comfortably around the dance floor. From there, students may advance into the Bronze Trophy Program, our most popular option, which helps students dance on any size floor, to any music, with any partner, while feeling comfortable and confident. From there, students can continue into the Silver Program and then all the way to Gold!
