After just a few wedding dance lessons at Fred Astaire Dance Studios of Oro Valley, you’ll gain the skills and confidence to impress your guests on the dance floor and create meaningful memories you’ll always value. Wedding dance lessons are also a fun way to unwind before the Big Day. Think of them as date nights! With so many wedding decisions and deadlines, enjoying this time together can help you both relax, recharge, and have LOTS of fun.

At Fred Astaire Dance Studios, our Wedding Dance programs are customized around you, including your style, personality, priorities, music, and dance preferences. Our friendly, certified Dance Instructors can teach anything from a few beginner dance lessons and simple steps to a fully choreographed ballroom dance routine for your whole wedding party. It’s completely up to you!

If you’re reading this now, it’s probably the right time to begin, because the longer you wait, the less time you’ll have to create your dream Wedding Dance! Since wedding couples usually have busy schedules, we recommend starting at least 5-6 months before your wedding. This gives you plenty of time to schedule lessons for you, and possibly your parents or wedding party, while also allowing you to feel truly confident with your dance. Everything begins with a free consultation at Fred Astaire Dance Studios. We’ll talk through your plans and learn more about the Wedding Dance you’re imagining. We encourage you to bring favorite songs, photos of your venue and wedding attire, dance videos you love, and anything else that helps us understand your goals. The more you share, the better we can create a Wedding Dance experience that amazes your guests and makes your celebration even more special.

We offer special introductory packages that help you begin creating your dream Wedding Dance at a great value. From there, we customize a program that fits your personal goals and budget. Lessons for just the two of you can cover a few easy steps or a fully choreographed dance. We can also include your wedding party for a fun, “YouTube-worthy” routine. Including your parents, or special friends and family members standing in those traditional roles, can also be a meaningful way to show your love and appreciation. The choice is entirely yours!

Absolutely! More couples are bringing their wedding party into dance lessons to create a unique routine or even recreate a famous dance scene from a favorite movie, musical, or video. A show-stopping First Dance can be an exciting surprise for your family and friends, and it can create moments everyone will want to watch and enjoy again and again.

Yes! Including your parents, or friends and family members filling those roles, in your wedding dance can make your time on the dance floor even more meaningful. It’s also a beautiful way to show love and appreciation. While our main focus will be your First Dance, we do suggest a few dance lessons for parents if you plan to include a traditional Mother/Son or Father/Daughter specialty dance during your reception.

We understand that some Students come to lessons directly from work, while others arrive dressed more casually, and either is perfectly fine. The most important thing is to wear something comfortable that lets you move easily. You’ll also want to choose comfortable shoes. We suggest leather-sole shoes for gentlemen and shoes with backs for ladies, similar to what you might wear for a night out dancing. If you’ve already purchased your wedding shoes, bring them to your first lesson so we can help you decide whether they’ll work well for dancing. Please note that athletic shoes are not ideal for the ballroom dance floor because they grip too much, which can make it difficult to move your feet.

Wedding shoes can be a beautiful part of your wedding attire, but they are not always made for comfort or movement. We recommend bringing your wedding shoes to your first dance lesson, so your Fred Astaire Dance Studios Instructor can help you decide whether you can comfortably dance in them or whether ballroom dancing shoes may be a better choice for your First Dance and reception. Your guests likely won’t notice the change, but you’ll feel much more comfortable.

The number of lessons you’ll need depends on the kind of First Dance you want to create. Our certified Instructors and Fred Astaire Dance Studios’ proven teaching method help you learn as much as possible in the shortest amount of time, with strong retention and plenty of FUN. We’ll work with you to create a First Dance that matches your vision and fits the time you have available. We can help you feel confident and comfortable on your Wedding Day. In fact, you’ll be on your way to confident dancing by the end of your very first lesson!

Not at all. If you already have a specific song in mind, let us know and we’ll help you choose a dance style that fits it well. But having a song picked out is not required. Once you’re introduced to different styles of partner dance and ballroom dancing, you may discover that you love a style that does not match your original music idea! Whatever you decide, we’ll help make your First Dance feel completely yours.
