Why Our Method Starts With Private Dance Lessons
The studio teaches through three parts: private lessons, group classes and practice parties. Private lessons carry the most weight, because that’s where new material is introduced and the pace is set to you.
Learning steps is only part of it. The real aim is being able to lead or follow any partner, on any floor. Group classes and practice parties help you build that, and you can see how the parts fit in our teaching method.
Inside a One-on-One Session
One on one dance lessons start with what you want to work on, whether that’s a new dance, a tricky figure or a routine for an event. Your instructor teaches it a section at a time, checks your timing and posture, and adjusts as you go. If something isn’t working, you try it another way on the spot instead of waiting for the next class.
Then it goes to music.
Individual dance lessons give you room to repeat a figure until it feels natural, without a class moving ahead of you.

Your Private Dance Instructor
The studio has five instructors, including the two owners, both championship-winning professionals, and a wedding specialist. Your private dance instructor is matched to your goals, and you can read about the whole team on our staff page.
A good instructor notices the habits a group class would miss, like where your weight sits or how you hold your frame.
The Dances in Our Ballroom Dance Lessons
Student | What They Work On |
Nervous beginner | First steps, without anyone watching |
Returning dancer | Rebuilding old skills and filling the gaps |
Wedding couple | A first dance and parent dances |
Solo dancer | Any style, with the instructor as partner |
Couple | Leading, following and dancing in sync |
Showcase or competition dancer | Routines, technique and performance |
Private dance lessons for adults work for each of these students, because every plan is built around the person in front of the instructor. Engaged couples can read more about our wedding dance lessons, and pairs who want to learn together can see our dance lessons for couples.
Any Style You Want to Learn
Every style the studio teaches is open in private dance classes: ballroom, Latin, tango, salsa, swing and the Country Western two-step. Some students spend their time on the waltz and foxtrot, others on salsa or a wedding routine.
Where Group Classes Fit In
Group classes come after the basics, not instead of them, and they’re where you practice patterns, technique and style with students at a similar level. Practice parties then help you recognize different music and move around a busy floor without collisions. Meanwhile, private ballroom dance lessons, or lessons in whichever style you’re learning, keep your technique moving forward.
Feedback From Private Students
What I love most is that this studio feels like more than just dance lessons—it feels like a community. There is great energy, lots of encouragement, and so many opportunities to learn, improve, and enjoy dancing.

Majority of our lessons were with Yuliya or Jose. They were both really good. They choreographed a dance for us so quickly, based on our skill level and our music choice. We started our lessons pretty early on (April time-frame for a November wedding). So, we completed our 10 private dance lessons well ahead of our wedding. We enjoyed it so much, that we purchased an additional 10 private dance lessons to get us in tip-top shape for our wedding.

Tanya is fantastic! She was my instructor and she just had a way about taking my nervousness away the moment she took my hand. I found out later that she does makeup and they are very reasonably priced for makeup for an event. I did a test run and everyone kept telling me how stunning it was. It was definitely Pro level work and I can't recommend the place enough! If I could do 10 Stars I would.

Questions About One-on-One Lessons
Can I Take Private Lessons Without a Partner?
Yes. Your private dance instructor is your partner, so starting alone works perfectly well. You can also bring a partner if you’d like to learn together.
How Long Is a Private Dance Lesson?
The introductory lesson runs 30 minutes. The studio’s lesson packages use 45-minute private dance classes, long enough to warm up, learn something new and practice it.
How Many Private Lessons Will I Need?
It depends on your goal, since a simple wedding dance needs far fewer than a competition routine. Private dance classes for adults are planned with you after your first visit, so you’ll know what to expect. You can stay with one style or move between several.
Can I Use Private Lessons to Prepare for a Showcase?
Yes. Individual dance lessons are where showcase routines are built. Your instructor choreographs and rehearses the routine with you, and the studio’s showcases and spotlights give you a place to perform it.
What Should I Practice Between One-on-One Dance Lessons?
Go over the basic step and your newest figure, ideally to music. Practice parties are the easiest way to do it, since you’re dancing with other students on a real floor. Your private dance teacher can tell you what to focus on before your next session.
