What to Bring to Your Free Consultation
The consultation works best when you arrive with a few clues: songs you’re considering, photos of the venue and what you’ll wear, and any dance videos you’ve saved. They tell your instructor more than a description ever could.
We’ll also talk about your date and how much time you have, so the plan fits your calendar. The studio offers special introductory packages for wedding couples, and the program is shaped around your budget as well as your song.

Your First Dance, From a Few Steps to a Full Routine
First dance lessons can go as far as you want them to. Some couples want a few comfortable steps they can repeat through the song. Others want a fully choreographed routine with turns, a dip and a finish the guests remember.
Either way, you don’t need any experience to learn to dance for wedding receptions. Lessons start with the basics of moving together: holding a frame, staying on time and following the music. Your first dance can look elegant, contemporary or simply fun, and the style is your call.
First Dance Choreography by Our Wedding Specialist
Jose Zuquilanda is the studio’s wedding specialist and is known for choreographing first dances. He builds first dance choreography around your song, your skill level and how much of the spotlight you want.
The choreography can draw on the waltz, including the traditional Bridal Waltz, the foxtrot, the tango or the Country Western two-step. If your instructor thinks another style suits your song better, they’ll suggest it. Bring the shoes you’ll wear on the day to an early lesson, so you can check that you can turn in them.

Every Dance on the Wedding Day
Moment | Who’s Dancing | What We Prepare |
First dance | The couple | Anything from simple steps to a full routine |
Father/daughter dance | The bride and her father | A dance that feels comfortable for both of them |
Mother/son dance | The groom and his mother | Steps that suit the song and the moment |
Wedding party routine | The whole wedding party | A group routine to your music, even a recreated movie or musical scene |
Parents can take lessons too. We offer father daughter dance lessons, and mothers and sons can book sessions of their own, scheduled alongside yours.
Wedding first dance lessons and the party routine can be planned together, so everything fits one schedule. A party routine works best when the group can practice together a few times, so plan it early if you want one.
When to Start Wedding Dance Lessons
The studio recommends starting five to six months before your wedding date. That leaves room for your own lessons, your parents’ dances and any party routine, without rushing.
Short on time? Lessons can still begin as little as a month ahead, with a plan sized to the weeks you have.
One-on-One Sessions, Plus Group Wedding Dance Classes
Private dance lessons for wedding couples come first. Your instructor works only with the two of you, on your song. The format is explained on our private dance lessons page.
Group wedding dance classes give you extra practice alongside other students. Missed sessions aren’t a problem either: if your partner is away, you can come on your own and keep working. Couples who want to keep dancing after the big day can move on to our dance lessons for couples.
Notes From Our Couples
What I love most is that this studio feels like more than just dance lessons—it feels like a community. There is great energy, lots of encouragement, and so many opportunities to learn, improve, and enjoy dancing.

Majority of our lessons were with Yuliya or Jose. They were both really good. They choreographed a dance for us so quickly, based on our skill level and our music choice. We started our lessons pretty early on (April time-frame for a November wedding). So, we completed our 10 private dance lessons well ahead of our wedding. We enjoyed it so much, that we purchased an additional 10 private dance lessons to get us in tip-top shape for our wedding.

Tanya is fantastic! She was my instructor and she just had a way about taking my nervousness away the moment she took my hand. I found out later that she does makeup and they are very reasonably priced for makeup for an event. I did a test run and everyone kept telling me how stunning it was. It was definitely Pro level work and I can't recommend the place enough! If I could do 10 Stars I would.

Wedding Dance Questions
What If We Haven't Chosen a Song Yet?
That’s fine. Wedding first dance lessons can start before the music is settled. Your instructor can teach you the basics of a style, then help you narrow down songs that suit it.
Can We Use a Song That Isn't a Ballroom Tune?
Yes. Wedding dance choreography isn’t limited to ballroom music. Your instructor will match a dance to the song you love, whether it’s a pop ballad, a country track or something upbeat.
What Does a Wedding Dance Instructor Plan in the First Session?
Your wedding dance instructor starts with how you move together: hold, timing and the basic step of the style you’ve chosen. From there, they’ll map out the sessions you need before the big day.
Do Parents Need Lessons for Their Dance?
The studio recommends it. Father daughter dance lessons, or a few sessions for a mother and son, help parents feel at ease when everyone’s watching, and they can be scheduled around your own lessons.
Can One of Us Start Lessons Before the Other?
Yes. One partner can begin and the other can join later, in private sessions or wedding dance classes. If you’d like a head start, private lessons let you build the basics on your own first.
