A: Fred Astaire Dance Studios' certified Dance Instructors hail from all over the country, and all over the world! Some have Fine Arts degrees and are actively-competing, award-winning professional dancers, others have very minimal dance experience or none at all. Because of our thorough and comprehensive instructor training and certification program, prior teaching experience is not necessarily required.

A: Our Wisconsin region is always looking to for outgoing, enthusiastic individuals to fill dance instructor positions. These positions are available at our 9 studio locations throughout the state. You may simply submit your resume using the image link in the right column on this page to get started or by emailing it directly to

A: Absolutely! Our instructor certification and training programs will help you dance (and teach) at your optimal level. We also host a series of spectacular Regional and National Dance Competitions you may participate in (with over $580,000 in annual prize money awarded!), and provide access to our top-level dance coaches to help further your dancing skills.

A: Nationwide, our network of Fred Astaire Dance Studios locations offer the possibility of unlimited career growth potential! The right person with the necessary skills and abilities may have the opportunity to progress to become a studio manager, supervisor – even an owner. Our Conceptual Method of Teaching program and continuous management training opportunities make that possible, helping to ensure that our certified Dance Instructors have all the skills required to be excellent teachers now, and to potentially advance even further, with time.

A: While the specific schedule is set at the local studio level, most Fred Astaire Dance Studios locations operate anywhere from 11am - 10pm, Monday through Friday, to accommodate our students’ busy and varied schedules. Many studios also conduct lessons, practice parties, team matches and / or coaching sessions on some weekends.

A: At Fred Astaire Dance Studios, we generally hire our Dance Instructors full-time, as there is a lot of on-the-job training involved and we are looking for individuals who are interested in a career, not just a job. Many studios offer their full-time employees paid vacation, health insurance and some may also offer retirement plans. Note that some studio locations may also have part-time positions available.

A: Dress code is set by the specific studio but in general, our certified Dance Instructors dress professionally for dance lessons, in clothing that is appropriate and comfortable for partner dancing. In most Fred Astaire Dance Studios locations, this generally means slacks, dress shirts and ties for the gentlemen; and skirts, dresses, or slacks for the ladies – and of course, approved dance shoes for everyone. For activities, events and matches, the dress code may vary.
