Born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, Katherine has always had a love for dancing. Her passion for ballroom first spurned while watching the competitions with her mom on PBS. Throughout her life, she kept up her athleticism by being a part of dance and cheer teams. Shortly after high school, the world of ballroom became a reality as she became one of the founding Instructors at Fred Astaire Dance Studios Stone Oak in 2007.
After a seven-year stint, Katherine took a break from ballroom to pursue other career opportunities and graduate from UTSA with a Bachelor’s in Psychology. She kept dance in her life by becoming a dance fitness instructor and the head coach for middle school and varsity dance teams while at a local Christian school where she was a second-grade teacher.
Realizing her passion remained on the dance floor, Katherine left the classroom to return to the ballroom.
