After 10 years in business, you’d think it couldn’t get any better, but thankfully, every year outdoes the one before it.
In 2015, we saw 20 different students at eight competitions – and several participated in multiple competitions.
Our revenues took a wild 30 percent leap up!
I climbed a ladder to make major sound quality enhancements to our ballroom and we decorated it to add even more festivity to what we do every single day.
In the Fred Astaire franchise, our affiliate won multiple awards for Top Studio, Top Teacher, and Top Student.
We participated, as we always do, in lovely and far-reaching charity events in partnership with The Pink Fund, Jack’s Place for Autism and the Detroit Tigers, and the Easter Seals of Michigan holiday gala. We have met and worked with amazing people and taught them to dance while partnering for great causes – raising our work to a whole new level.
We launched the Dance Mobility program, which captured hearts and attention through so much media exposure and is growing to become a robust offering that you can’t find anywhere else in Michigan. This effort proves that anybody can dance if they want to learn.
We performed at Detroit Tigers spring training in Florida, and we performed in Detroit’s Joe Louis Arena.
We hosted more than 50 dance parties and more than 259 group dance lessons, while averaging 140 private dance lessons per week.
We welcomed more than 12 nationally renowned dance coaches/choreographers to our students and instructors.
We’ve seen countless new students taking their first nervous step into our studio and soon become comfortable, confident dancers. Along the way, they experience the joy and benefits of dancing, meeting new friends and enjoying life even more than they already do.
Stories of the love of dancing, the camaraderie of our dance community, and the special people who are helping others through dance claimed local and national media exposure in more than 200 outlets, which is media time valued at more than $6.5 million.
As we head into 2016, I can’t help but cling to my mantra, which I share with instructors and staff: “We are better today then we were yesterday, and we will be better tomorrow then we are today.”
What a great year. Thank you to everyone who made every little detail of 2015 happen in such glorious fashion. Happy new year!!
