Whether you dance on two feet or four wheels, Fred Astaire Dance Studio and the RIM Foundation want to help you achieve the perfect wedding dance.
Together, we are offering a free package of dancing lessons for a deserving couple, where either the bride or groom, or one of their parents, has a physical disability and they’d like to learn how to dance at their wedding. The package includes five dance lessons at Fred Astaire, paid for by the RIM Foundation.

It’s been several years since we began partnering with Cheryl Angelelli and the RIM Foundation to create Dance Mobility, an adapted dance program for persons with disabilities, subsidized by the RIM Foundation and held at our studio in Bloomfield Hills.
Cheryl is a celebrated athlete and award-winning, internationally-known wheelchair dancer herself! Her passion for bringing dance to all interested individuals is mirrored in our belief that dance brings happiness, health and wholeness to everyone who does it.
“I’m so excited to launch this contest,” Cheryl says. “The first dance of a newly married couple, and the father-daughter or mother-son dance at a wedding, are such special milestones. We want to make sure everyone can savor that special moment.”
The contest launches this Wednesday, on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2018, and submissions are due by March 14, 2018. The winning couple will receive a free, customized wedding dance package, worth $500. FADS dance instructors will choreograph a special first dance for the couple, or for a bride/groom to dance with a parent.
Contest details:
- One partner must have a physical disability
- The person with the disability must be one of the soon-to-be spouses or a father of the bride or mother of the groom
