It’s that time of year again, when we vow to be better, change our ways, and improve our life satisfaction and health.
Well, those are all great reasons to make Ballroom Dance your top New Year’s Resolution in 2019.
Did you know, the most common New Year’s Resolutions are to quit smoking, lose weight, save money and spend more time with friends and family? And you probably know that most New Year’s Resolutions don’t last very long.
This year, you can lose weight and spent more time with family or friends by taking up dance. (I don’t know about the quitting smoking one, but if you’re serious about dance, my guess is you wouldn’t want to smoke because it would impede your dancing success!)
Dancing is fun
There are countless reasons to make dance your resolution. (Dance, Dance, Resolution!) First, it’s fun. In an era of stress and overwork, of lightning-speed expectations and packed schedules, a 45-minute dance lesson and the free group dance lessons that go along with our private lessons force you to slow down, to experience life and joy, and to immerse in the moment.
Get in shape
Secondly, you will get in shape, from head to toe, if you’re serious about dance. What’s more, you’ll also protect bone density and protect your knees while getting in shape and not threatening any of your joints or muscles. Dance is a safe social activity and enjoyable exercise that promotes fitness.
You’ll build flexibility. You’ll burn fat. You’ll promote cognitive health (and if Alzheimer’s or dementia run in your family, you’ll prevent the onset the more you dance!).
Expand your social circle
You can’t be lonely when dancing. Dance is a social activity and in our studio, people make friends and feel great in a supportive group of like-minded dancers.
There are so many reasons to make dance your resolution this year. Plus, it’s one you can keep!
