Any good teacher knows to learn the nuances and style of every student so they can help them learn in the best way possible.

It’s no different with ballroom dance. In fact, it may even be a bit harder because our instructors must learn not only one, but sometimes in the case of couples who want to dance together, two students who often bring very different styles of learning to the lesson.

It’s not uncommon to have an engineer and an artist come to learn together. The engineer might need to learn steps in chronological order to understand how to dance, while the artist doesn’t want to be bored with the “how” – they want to move and feel and visualize the dance.

Our instructors are skilled in teaching to the student’s ability and interest. We look at the individuals who come to us and analyze how they learn. If one method of teaching doesn’t resonate, we switch to another.

We are so focused on our students that I can honestly say no two lessons look the same just as no two people are truly identical.

One way we learn a person’s learning style is by understanding the career they’re in. That can tell us a bit about how they view the world, what they enjoy and what speaks to them, and we tailor lessons accordingly.

The best instructors know how to adapt the teaching method to the individual. Everybody learns differently and in order to be a good instructor, you have to be able to understand how your students learn so they are eager to keep learning and really advance in the dance.
