The Fred Astaire Dance Studios’ Curriculum

Inspired by the timeless elegance and talent of Fred Astaire himself, Fred Astaire Dance Studios in Tucson’s ballroom dancing curriculum includes American Style, Latin-American, International Style, Exhibition/Theater Arts dances, and much more. Internationally recognized dance champions and official members of the Fred Astaire International Dance Council continuously review and refine our programs to ensure our students receive the highest-quality and most current dance lessons available. Our exclusive ballroom dancing instruction method features a three-part system of regularly scheduled private lessons, group classes, and practice parties.

Private Lessons

Private dance lessons, taught with one or more dance instructors, provide the personalized guidance and focused attention needed to help you feel comfortable and confident on the dance floor while learning how to successfully lead or follow any dance partner. We work at a pace that fits your goals, improving and refining your ballroom dancing skills throughout every lesson.

Group Classes

Group dance lessons work alongside your private instruction because they are where dance patterns, style, and ballroom dancing techniques are developed. Group classes also give students the opportunity to connect with others who share similar dance goals, improve coordination, and better understand the movement and mechanics involved in dancing.

Practice Parties

Scheduled practice parties reinforce everything introduced during your private dance lessons and group ballroom dancing classes. At Fred Astaire Dance Studios’ practice parties, we lower the lights, turn up the music, and enjoy dancing with a variety of people in a fun and relaxed social atmosphere. Practice parties help you “bring everything together,” improve music recognition skills, and teach you how to comfortably navigate a busy dance floor without bumping into others. Practice parties are an enjoyable (and fun!) way to use everything you are learning.

The Fred Astaire Trophy System

The Fred Astaire Dance Studios Trophy System provides a simple and motivating way to measure your ballroom dancing progress while enjoying your dance lessons! Our Beginner and Social Foundation Programs help new students learn the dance patterns and techniques needed to move confidently around the dance floor. From there, students may advance into the Bronze Trophy Program (our most requested program!), which prepares dancers to move comfortably on any size dance floor, with any partner, to nearly any style of music. Afterward, students can continue progressing through the Silver Program and eventually all the way to Gold!
